Olayinka Sodunke

Broadcast Journalist

Olayinka Sodunke is an international journalist with over a decade of experience on radio and television in Africa and North America. He joined WDIO-TV (ABC News) late in 2022 as a Producer/Multimedia Journalist Journalist.

Olayinka grew up in Nigeria, West Africa where he earned his bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature from Tai Solarin University of Education. He started his career on radio in 2012 as a news anchor on college radio and then proceeded to national radio, Fresh 105.9 FM Ibadan in 2013.

In 2018 he moved to television as a national news anchor for Ogun State Television in Nigeria, which aired across the continent.

Olayinka moved to the United States where he graduated with distinction for his Masters of Communication degree from Eastern New Mexico University. His American and international experience helps bring a healthy diversity and creativity to every team he joins. He has won various awards both in journalism and academia.

Olayinka calls himself a skeptic who loves asking questions. He says, “I am a critical thinker that loves covering local news and my main goal as a journalist is to provide my audience with rich, authentic, factual and balanced news stories.”

In his free time, Olayinka loves to travel, listen to Afro Beat music and meeting new people.
