It is often said that "heroes don't always wear capes," Uchechukwu Onwa is proof that we do not require a cape or uniform before stepping up and doing what is right. This man has been through a lot and I mean a lot, yet he continues to shine the light and fight for that which is right. Uche also provides help to Queer immigrants, helping make settling easier for them. Nigeria the country of my birth is not a safe place for a Queer person who isn't from a wealthy family. This man navigated a very hostile environment before coming over to the United States (which isn't Uhuru). This is an American story that we all need to hear.
Uchechukwu is a co-director at qderp.org You can also find Uche on Facebook under his name, on Instagram @famousval992 & @famousvalcouture Go check out his designs.
